2013-2014

Masters of Education

I was accepted to the Accelerated Graduate Program at the University of New Hampshire in the Spring of 2013. I began taking dual credit classes to complete my undergraduate degree and to begin my graduate coursework. In the Fall of 2013 and into the Spring of 2014 I completed a student teaching internship at Coe-Brown Northwood Academy in Northwood, NH. I had an excellent cooperating teacher, who not only allowed me to co-teach alongside her, but also allowed me to solo teach two of the classes that year.

Some of my coursework included: Methods of Teaching Secondary Science, Contemporary Education Perspectives and Educating Exceptional Learners.

Self Designed Bachelor's of Science in Agricultural Science Education

I began my college career at the University of New Hampshire as an Equine Science major with aspirations of working with race horses in Kentucky. During my Freshman year I was also serving as the State Secretary for the Granite State Association of FFA. It was during this time that I discovered a love for education, in particular educating people on the aspects of agriculture. This realization led me to the decision to pursue Agricultural Education as a career path, however the university did not have a degree for it. Through the help of an outstanding mentor and academic advisor I was able to create a Self Designed Bachelor's of Science in Agricultural Science Education. The self designed major required a lot of planning, research and dedication to a sometimes overfull course schedule including multiple summer courses.

During my time at the university I was able to take an array of agricultural related classes including: Genetics of Domestic Animals, Forages & Grassland Management, Organic & Sustainable Agriculture, Introductory Horticulture, Welding & Fabrication Technology and Contemporary Conservation Issues.  I also participated in the very first Culture & Agriculture in Ireland course, which included a short term study abroad in Ireland to learn about their agricultural practices.
